Cape Verde World Cup star Vozinha agrees deal with Chile’s Colo Colo

Cape Verde's goalkeeper Vozinha has secured a move to Chilean professional club Colo Colo, according to an announcement by the club's president Anibal Mosa on Saturday. The 40-year-old will travel to Chile to complete medical examinations before being formally unveiled at Estadio Monumental.

Vozinha gained international prominence during the recent World Cup, where his performances drew widespread attention. He recorded a goalless draw against Spain and made several notable saves against top-ranked teams, including the defending champions Argentina. His contributions to Cape Verde's campaign earned him selection to FIFA's fan-voted World Cup dream team.

Before the tournament, Vozinha departed Portuguese second-tier club Chaves. Mosa acknowledged that the signing reflected both the goalkeeper's demonstrated quality at the World Cup and the marketing value the move would bring to Colo Colo.

Vozinha's profile has expanded significantly beyond football. His social media presence grew dramatically, with his Instagram following increasing from 50,000 to nearly 30 million, partly through engagement with Brazilian influencer Casimiro. The goalkeeper also drew attention after disclosing that visa bond costs prevented his mother from attending World Cup matches, though she eventually received a visa with travel expenses covered following intervention by US House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Colo Colo, based in Santiago, currently leads Chile's Liga de Primera and holds the distinction of being the only Chilean club to win the Copa Libertadores.
