India win second T20 in Zimbabwe to take series as Kishan and Varma shine

India secured the three-match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe with a commanding 90-run victory in the second international at Harare Sports Club on Saturday. The Indian batting lineup produced a strong performance, accumulating 219 runs for the loss of five wickets after being inserted to bat first.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma formed the foundation of India's total through an aggressive partnership in the middle overs. Kishan compiled 81 runs from 44 deliveries while Varma remained unbeaten on 60 from 29 balls, combining for a 94-run fourth-wicket stand off 44 balls. Their acceleration exploited bowling that frequently lacked precision, with deliveries often pitched too full to be effective.

Zimbabwe's chase proved unsuccessful from the outset, with the target of 220 representing a record run chase for the team. Although opener Brian Bennett provided early resistance with 32 runs from 19 balls, the innings deteriorated steadily following his dismissal to Yash Thakur. The Zimbabwe batting order collapsed within 17.5 overs, finishing at 129 all out.

Thakur claimed two wickets for 30 runs on his Twenty20 international debut, while left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma delivered the most effective bowling performance with three wickets for 17 runs. India had previously won the opening match of the series by seven wickets with 40 balls remaining, establishing clear dominance in the contest.
