The Qatari banking sector demonstrated stability during June 2026, according to QNB Financial Services' monthly analysis. Total banking assets held steady at QAR 2,197.0 billion, unchanged from May but reflecting 2.1 percent growth compared to the end of 2025. The sector maintained robust liquidity levels while loan portfolios and deposit bases remained stable on a monthly basis.

The loan portfolio grew 2.6 percent compared to year-end 2025, while deposits remained flat at QAR 1,105.1 billion, up 5.8 percent since the beginning of 2026. The loan-to-deposit ratio held at 133 percent, matching May's level but improved from 137 percent at the end of 2025. According to Qatar Central Bank methodology, which accounts for stable funding sources, the ratio remains below the regulatory maximum of 100 percent.

Public sector deposits drove growth, increasing 3.2 percent month-on-month and 10.2 percent year-to-date. Government institution deposits, representing approximately 58 percent of public sector deposits, rose 7.2 percent monthly and 20.0 percent since year-start. Semi-governmental institution deposits, comprising about 15 percent of public sector deposits, increased 4.3 percent monthly and 18.2 percent year-to-date.

Non-resident deposits declined 2.7 percent month-on-month but remained 1.7 percent higher than year-end 2025, stabilizing at 18.0 percent of total deposits. Private sector deposits decreased 0.9 percent monthly while maintaining 4.1 percent year-to-date growth. Corporate and institutional deposits fell 2.0 percent monthly but rose 2.7 percent year-to-date, while individual deposits remained unchanged monthly with 5.2 percent annual growth.

Credit expansion was supported by strong public sector loan growth and increased lending outside Qatar, offsetting private sector loan declines. Public sector loans rose 0.9 percent monthly despite being down 5.1 percent year-to-date. Government loans, representing approximately 40 percent of public sector loans, remained unchanged monthly but increased 15.0 percent since year-start.
