Ooredoo Group announced a strategic investment in Zankore, an AI compute and neocloud platform in Indonesia, committing approximately US$800 million as a 49% founding shareholder. The investment is expected to generate approximately US$600 million in cumulative EBITDA over five years and positions Ooredoo as an early mover in Southeast Asia's AI infrastructure market.
Ooredoo Group has expanded its digital infrastructure portfolio through a significant investment in Zankore, a dedicated AI compute platform operating in Indonesia. As the lead investor and founding shareholder, Ooredoo will hold a 49% stake and commit approximately US$800 million to support the platform's establishment and early-stage operations.
According to Ooredoo's projections, this investment is anticipated to deliver approximately US$600 million in cumulative EBITDA to the Group over the first five years. The financial contribution is expected to strengthen Ooredoo's earnings from digital infrastructure assets while providing exposure to hard-currency infrastructure revenue streams. The platform structure also enables future capacity growth.
Ooredoo Group Chief Executive Officer Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo characterized the move as a natural progression of the Group's regional strategy. He noted that Ooredoo has developed a leading digital infrastructure portfolio across the MENA region and views the Southeast Asian market as a significant opportunity for AI infrastructure investment. Fakhroo emphasized that artificial intelligence is expected to drive value creation in emerging markets over the coming decade.
Zankore has been developed in collaboration with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Nokia, and NVIDIA. The platform is designed to support 1 GW of NVIDIA DSX AI Factory capacity, establishing Ooredoo as an early participant in Southeast Asia's expanding AI infrastructure sector.
