US man arrested at Trump’s golf course charged with multiple felonies

A security breach at a presidential property resulted in the arrest and felony charges against a California resident who gained access to Trump National Golf Club while impersonating a member of the security detail. Jeanine John Taele, 38, was apprehended on Sunday at the Rancho Palos Verdes facility, which was undergoing security preparations ahead of a scheduled presidential visit. The incident prompted a comprehensive investigation into his background, activities, and possessions.

Taele's presence on the golf course was first documented on Friday when he was observed moving throughout the property wearing an earpiece and documenting federal agents' security assessment activities. A subsequent search of his vehicle in the club parking area revealed a loaded 9-millimeter pistol, binoculars, and a fraudulent security identification badge. Law enforcement expanded the investigation to his residence in Downey, where officers discovered an unregistered short-barreled rifle, additional firearms, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks containing statements authorities characterized as concerning.

The defendant entered not guilty pleas to all charges during his Monday court appearance, with bail established at $250,000. He faced additional state charges related to weapons violations and robbery from a separate incident. According to military records, Taele served as a Marine Corps corporal from 2008 to 2016, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and received commendations for conduct during his service.
