Armed man arrested at Trump’s LA golf course ahead of president’s visit

Law enforcement arrested a suspect at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after he was observed documenting the facility and monitoring security arrangements. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department identified the individual as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele. Officers discovered a loaded handgun with a chambered round and hollow-point ammunition in his possession at the time of arrest, along with additional magazines containing ammunition.

A subsequent search of Taele's vehicle in the golf course parking area yielded a second loaded magazine and additional ammunition. The suspect was already the subject of a separate robbery investigation by the El Segundo Police Department. On the following day, federal authorities and local detectives conducted a search of his residence in Downey, where they located an illegally modified rifle, a second pistol, body armour, high-capacity magazines, bulk ammunition supplies, radio signal devices, and notebooks containing statements officials characterized as concerning.

Despite the discovery of weapons and materials, the sheriff's department stated that no credible threat to public safety had been established. Taele remains in custody without bail as prosecutors determine what charges to pursue. Trump's presence at the golf club was part of a campaign visit to California and Nevada in advance of the November midterm elections.
