Morocco marks 27th Throne Day in Doha with focus on progress and ties with Qatar
Morocco's Embassy in Qatar hosted a reception on Sunday to commemorate the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne. Ambassador Mohamed Setri highlighted Morocco's economic growth, infrastructure projects, and strengthening bilateral ties with Qatar, attended by senior Qatari officials including the Ministers of Environment and Justice.
Morocco's diplomatic mission in Doha organized a formal ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton to mark the milestone anniversary of King Mohammed VI's reign. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, and representatives of the Moroccan community in Qatar.
Among the attendees were Qatar's Minister of Environment and Climate Change Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie and Minister of Justice Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, reflecting the significance both nations place on their relationship. Ambassador Mohamed Setri used the occasion to outline Morocco's development trajectory under the King's leadership, citing achievements in economic performance, macroeconomic stability, and foreign investment flows.
The ambassador emphasized Morocco's expanding continental influence, pointing to initiatives such as the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, which involves 13 participating nations, and the Atlantic Initiative focused on Sahel states. He also noted the Kingdom's competitive position in African automotive manufacturing, growth in aviation exports, and record tourism figures, alongside employment generated through major infrastructure projects and World Cup 2030 preparations.
Setri characterized Morocco-Qatar relations as deeply rooted in the personal relationship between the two monarchs and mutual respect between their peoples. He noted that bilateral cooperation has broadened through high-level diplomatic engagement and formal agreements spanning economic development, investment, tourism, and education sectors.
