Local volunteers help rebuild destroyed Christian monastery in Lebanon

A community-led initiative has emerged in the Lebanese village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh to reconstruct a Catholic monastery that was destroyed during recent conflict. The effort represents an interfaith collaboration among local residents working toward restoration. The village, which carries designation as one of Lebanon's pilot zones, has experienced significant physical damage. Following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area, residents have begun returning to their homes, many of which remain in ruins. The reconstruction work reflects attempts by the predominantly Shia Muslim community to rebuild shared cultural and religious infrastructure alongside other residents.
