The full story

In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, three siblings from the Musa family received their Tawjihi examination results on July 24, marking the culmination of an academically demanding year. The Tawjihi is a series of high school exams taken by Palestinian students. All three siblings achieved passing grades, with Sama scoring 97.5 percent, Abdullah 94.6 percent, and Nada 94.4 percent.

Sama described the path to success as exceptionally difficult, noting that psychological strain and challenging circumstances affected the final outcome. Abdullah and Nada faced additional obstacles due to physical disabilities that prevented them from attending private lessons, requiring their family to arrange home-based tutoring instead. Despite these barriers, both siblings achieved high marks.

Their mother, Hind Muhanna, attributed the children's success to years of consistent parental support and encouragement. She emphasized that instilling confidence in her children from an early age had been instrumental in their academic achievement. Nada acknowledged that her parents' unwavering support at every stage of her education had been crucial to overcoming difficulties.

According to Palestinian Minister of Education Amjad Barham, approximately 89,000 students across the occupied West Bank, occupied East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip participated in the Tawjihi examinations this year, with an additional 2,000 students sitting for the exams in 46 other countries. The Musa siblings' achievement reflects broader efforts by Palestinian students to pursue educational goals amid challenging conditions.
