India’s arms sale to Israel risks complicity in Gaza genocide, Amnesty says

Amnesty International has documented extensive Indian military supply relationships with Israel, raising accountability questions regarding potential involvement in alleged war crimes. The rights organization analyzed 2,596 weapons-related shipments from India to Israel beginning October 7, 2023, identifying substantial quantities of military components. Indian suppliers delivered at least 390,516 small arms parts for military-grade weapons, 564,970 explosive ordnance components including drone warheads and artillery casings, and 298 military vehicle components to Israeli defense contractors. The investigation employed internationally recognized trade classification codes to distinguish military from civilian shipments, systematically excluding civilian-use items. Additional customs documentation obtained by Al Jazeera revealed Indian firms exporting bomb and grenade components under specific classification codes to Israeli manufacturers including Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, IMI Systems Limited, and MCT Materials. The International Court of Justice issued provisional measures in 2024 ordering Israel to prevent genocide in Gaza, with multiple human rights organizations and UN experts subsequently characterizing Israeli actions as genocidal. Amnesty International's leadership stated that India has failed to regulate private company arms exports in accordance with international law while simultaneously deepening its defense partnership with Israel, demonstrating continued military support despite the documented humanitarian crisis.
