Public Prosecution orders probe into alleged forged medical certificates

Qatar's Public Prosecution has launched a formal investigation into allegations of document forgery and misuse of public funds following a complaint from the Ministry of Interior. The case centers on a woman holding Qatari citizenship who is accused of orchestrating the creation and distribution of fraudulent medical leave certificates.

According to authorities, the suspect coordinated with individuals outside Qatar to facilitate the issuance of forged documents falsely attributed to Hamad Medical Corporation. Multiple Qatari recipients allegedly obtained these certificates and submitted them to government agencies to obtain sick leave they were not entitled to receive. The scheme reportedly involved financial transactions, with payments transferred to the suspect's bank account in exchange for the forged documents.

The investigation extends beyond the primary suspect and involves additional individuals, including students at educational institutions and employees of various government bodies. All recipients of the forged certificates face accusations of intentionally submitting false documents to government agencies. Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing as legal procedures continue.

In response to the case, the Public Prosecution has issued guidance to government bodies, educational institutions, and other entities to strengthen verification procedures for medical leave certificates and report any suspected forgeries to enable appropriate legal action.
