At least 11 killed in Ukraine as Moscow and Kyiv continue to trade attacks

Escalating military operations between Russia and Ukraine resulted in significant casualties on both sides during recent attacks. Ukrainian officials reported that Russian strikes claimed at least 11 lives across multiple regions. In the Kyiv region, a missile attack killed six people and wounded dozens, prompting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to announce ongoing rescue operations. Kyiv's mayor reported explosions within the city and advised residents to remain in shelters while air defence systems were active. The city of Sloviansk sustained particular damage when Russian aviation bombs killed five civilians and injured nine others, with local governor Vadym Filashkin urging remaining residents near the front line to evacuate. In the southern Mykolaiv region, a drone attack on port infrastructure damaged two civilian vessels, though no injuries were reported. Russia claimed territorial gains in the Kharkiv region and stated it had struck 27 vessels used by Ukrainian military forces. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces conducted retaliatory strikes on Russian territory. In the Kirov region, a Ukrainian missile attack on a factory killed six people and injured 26, according to regional governor Alexander Sokolov. Wildberries, a major Russian e-commerce company, reported that its warehouses in Saint Petersburg, the Leningrad region, and Simferopol in Crimea were hit during the strikes. Founder Tatyana Kim stated that staff were evacuated swiftly and some premises and goods were preserved, with no casualties reported. The company indicated it would redistribute inventory across remaining warehouses to maintain economic stability for partners.
