Spain go back to the top of FIFA rankings, Morocco reach a record high

Spain has returned to the summit of the FIFA men's rankings following their World Cup victory over Argentina. The Spanish team, managed by Luis de la Fuente, secured a 1-0 victory after extra time, displacing Argentina from the top position they had held. This marks Spain's return to first place for the first time since January.

The updated rankings reflect the tournament's outcomes and broader competitive performance. France maintained its third-place position despite losing the bronze medal match to England, who remained in fourth. Brazil climbed to fifth place, while Morocco achieved a historic high by reaching sixth position. Portugal dropped two places to seventh following their round-of-16 elimination, while Belgium moved to eighth and the Netherlands fell to ninth.

Significant movement occurred throughout the rankings. Mexico advanced four places to enter the top ten, while Norway experienced the largest jump, rising twelve positions to nineteenth after reaching the World Cup quarterfinals. Germany fell out of the top ten, landing at twelfth place. Italy, which failed to qualify for the tournament, slipped to fifteenth.

Other notable changes included Tunisia suffering the largest decline, dropping twelve places to fifty-seventh, while Egypt climbed five spots to twenty-fourth. Paraguay rose seven places to thirty-fourth after reaching the round of sixteen. Cabo Verde and Ghana also made gains following their tournament participation.
