Military operations between the United States and Iran intensified on Monday as American forces launched their ninth consecutive round of strikes against Iranian targets. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported explosions in numerous locations spanning the country's geography, from northwestern Tabriz to southern coastal cities including Sirik, Jask, and Chabahar, as well as port facilities in Khuzestan province. The U.S. military characterized the strikes as aimed at degrading Iranian military infrastructure used to threaten commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The escalation occurred against a backdrop of broader regional instability. Kuwait reported confronting hostile drone threats, while air raid sirens activated in Bahrain for a second consecutive day and in Jordan, where military forces claimed to have intercepted three Iranian missiles. Kuwait's government stated that a desalination plant sustained direct damage in what officials described as an attack on civilian infrastructure.

Both nations have pursued competing strategies regarding maritime traffic through the critical waterway. The U.S. military announced enforcement of a naval blockade on Iranian ports and reported redirecting six commercial vessels while disabling another to ensure compliance. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps countered that four vessels attempted to transit via unsafe routes with American backing, resulting in two abandoning the attempt and two experiencing accidents.

The deterioration marked a significant breakdown in diplomatic efforts, with the month-old ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington unraveling. The U.S. military also announced the death of a third soldier in recent days, underscoring the human cost of the escalating confrontation.
