Catalan regional police confirmed that an attempted burglary occurred at a home in the area but declined to publicly identify the property owner for privacy reasons. Barcelona media outlets identified the residence as belonging to Yamal, noting that the property has considerable public recognition due to its previous ownership by Barcelona football legend Gerard Pique and Colombian music star Shakira during their relationship.
The incident occurred shortly after Spain completed a 2-0 victory over France in Texas to secure their place in the World Cup final. Yamal contributed to the victory by winning a first-half penalty that teammate Mikel Oyarzabal converted for the opening goal. The young forward also played a role in Barcelona's La Liga title defense during the previous season.
